For its bold design, we name this men’s leather wallet after Koitalel arap Samoei the first freedom fighter and one of Nandi’s greatest ruler. Koitalel means White Rock. Not much is documented about him but what is clear was his death. A betrayal by one  Richard Meinertzhagen on 9th October 1905. It is said that Meinertzhagen asked Koitalel to a meeting. Sensing that He might be killed, Koitalel asked Meinerzhagen to come with 5 solders and he, Koitalel, would be accompanied by the same. Little did he know that Meinertzhagen would have 80 armed soldiers, 75 of whom would be hiding in the forest nearby. Once Koitalel stretched his hand for a handshake, he would then be fatally shot.

He is said to have predicted the coming of The White man and also the building of the railway track. During the building of the Ugandan Railway through Nandi, Koitalel led an eleven-year resistance against it. His body was returned without his head and to date, his 4th generation still asks the British government to return his head. In 1902, the British acknowledged Nandi as an enclave within Kenya in the East African Province of Uganda Protectorate. Koitalel was a resilient brave leader who made the Nandi people formidable.
